  • Laws Whiskey House Smoked Old Fashioned

    Smoked Old Fashioned

    Our favorite Halloween-inspired cocktail

    Ingredients

    • 2oz San Luis Valley Rye
    • 1/4oz simple syrup
    • 1 dash Angostura bitters
    • 1 dash orange bitters
    • Lemon or orange peel.

    Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir to combine and strain over a large ice cube in a rocks glass.
Garnish with an expressed lemon peel. Use a cocktail smoker (here are a few suggestions) to add a layer of smoke for presentation and flavor. Savor the smokey aromas and enjoy.

Alternatively, you can bring a torch to a piece of an old barrel stave (we sell these in our Tasting Room) on a surface that won’t burn and then place your empty glass over the smoking wood. The smoke will leave its flavor on the inside of the glass. Prepare the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir to combine and strain over a large ice cube in your freshly smoked rocks glass.
